2 interviews since my last post

I've had 2 interviews in January, and those were both within the last two weeks.  I'm glad to be getting them closer together, however I'm hoping this last one on Friday is the job.  The position doesn't actually exist within the company yet but due to the growth of the company they are looking to add this role and I have done some of this type of work previously.  Hoping my prior experience swings in my favor.  May know this week if I end up with a second interview or not.  REALLY hoping I do, it seemed like such a welcoming company.  Everyone passing through the lobby was cordial to each other, no one looked cranky and they were wearing jeans on a Friday! :)

Tomorrow I get to deal with the Unemployment Office.  Have to make my way down there to prove I've been applying for jobs to continue receiving my emergency extension.  Also hoping this is the only extension I'll need.

New year, hoping I find that new career soon!

Wow I haven't posted in over a month.  December was pretty hectic.  I had a job interview on December 18th that I thought went really well.  Unfortunately I haven't heard back from the manager and it doesn't seem that I will.  Nor did I hear anything back about the bank that I interviewed at.  I almost started to feel defeated, wondering how I can be getting the interviews and not getting the job.  It makes me feel like my previous employer has put a hex on me!  Next week will be exactly 6 months unemployed.  6 months.  I have never been without a job for this length of time.  The last time I found myself unemployed after the business closed I was technically out of work for 2 months.  I feel like everyone's just out to hire the person that they believe will take the lowest amount of pay OR put out this ridiculous list of preferred skills and requirements to deter people from applying.  I've even had 2 interviewers ask me why I am not trying for a legal position since I have my Paralegal Certificate.  Believe me I've tried.  But without legal experience that certificate is doing me no good.  And without the experience I can't even begin to put that certificate to use.

Illinois's job market seems to be highly lacking as of late.  I've tried looking for work out of state already now.  I've applied for some.  But it seems that I'm not even sure with my skills anyone is willing to hire someone from out of state right now.

The good news is that I did get a call from a staffing company that they are sending my resume to the hiring manager for a position that I applied for.  Keeping my fingers crossed that this could finally be the job that gets me back into the working world.
